In this fast paced and uncertain world we’re currently living, we’re starting to truly understand the importance of self-care and giving ourselves permission to slow down, reconnect with our inner selves and recharge. Now more than ever it’s becoming essential for our physical and mental wellbeing. One of the best ways I’ve found to do this and stick with it is to create a habit, or ritual, around it.
As human beings we like routine, it gives us a sense of structure and organisation for the mind, and once it becomes a habit it starts to happen unconsciously. Where it has more lasting and beneficial effects is when we turn it into a ritual, it moves from needing to be done to something which is meaningful and purposeful. You can start by carving out some time in your week for self-care, it doesn’t matter how small, it could be 15 minutes a week on a Sunday evening where you set the intention to switch off and disconnect from the busy world. Allowing yourself to be fully present to whatever you choose to do during your self-care ritual; journaling, mediation, yoga, relaxing bath, and feel your body, mind and soul thank you for this time.
